Meeting Week 4 - 17th October

Attended all - Elizabeth (absent due to illness).

I was unable to attend - but the general consensus, was to create zoning areas to try and work out a masterplan.

Each group member to come up with appropriate places for areas such as:

- Industry
- Farming
- Residential areas
etc

Simon's notes for the session:

All the plants have an electrode near there roots( maybe we can poot a raster with an interval of 0.5 m with electrodes on it so we can collected al the natural produces electrons for energy from the plants, we’ll need a facility where these are collected and converted into energy


Science facility

Monitors the efficiency of all the energy sources and there consumtion and the new stuff like phototropia and living plat energy. I think it’s interesting if we make it like something you can visit to learn about renewable energy and cool wacky new ideas instead just a research facility

Make layers of the analysis and put them over each other to discover patterns.
Than use that to design.
Create energy from the existing sewage works

Earthform for flooding area used for something else as well

Connection with a university( university of Greenwich?)

-Idea for slogan: renewing barking riverside : industrial revolution to evolution 
-Idea for concept diagram: abstract cellstructures interlinked, maybe algae cells, human cells,…
-Begin with designing the river corridor
-River in the west of site can be the center : mixt use, shops, cafĂ©’s+business
-Wetland infiltrate(doesn’t have to be water) into the science park and residential areas

- I’m making the layers of the analysis on wich we are basin our design:
Landform - public transport - circulation - flooding structures to keep
-Energy layer of the current idea for the site and how we can make it work and our options.
- photoshop map of our work on the map today ( specifing the different landuses)


Everybody

- Search for patterns on the analysis layers I made and use this for making an area into a specific shape,connections between areas.
- Then look at the map we made today and everybody has to :
1)Specify the areas(flooting village, science park,wetland,…)
2)circulation
3)public transport
4)connection with areas outside the site( like amy suggested with the connections to the tube stations)
